FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is it good for beginners?

We are a beginner-oriented operator & many of our guests are first timers. We use very stable kayaks & our leaders will start the experience with a 30-minute basic kayak lesson. The leaders will follow up individually with anyone in need.

I cannot swim – can I join?

No, we cannot take anyone unable to swim – in spite that we provide a floatation vest and in spite that swimming is optional.

Do I need to be fit to participate?

As a general guideline, we recommend that participants have the physical ability to sustain a 2hr long, fast paced walk, with breaks. This is used as an assessment of the required fitness level – we do NOT need to walk during the experience.

Do we stop during the ride?

Yes, we stop several times to have a rest, to admire the surroundings & to snap beautiful photos.

What is included?

The kayak tour is a 2.5hrs experience including 30 minutes dedicated to a basic kayak lesson.  We supply kayak, paddle, float vest, dry bag and digital pictures emailed a day or 2 later.

What should I bring?

2 litres of water per person, shoes you don't mind getting wet, Sun Protection, A light snack such as a cereal bar, and a spirit for adventure.

(in colder months pls bring a Towel & change of clothes)

Where can we keep our things during the ride?

We supply every kayak with a quality 20 litre dry bag that you carry on the kayak. You can also keep things inside our locked, but unattended shared area in our van.

What in the case of bad weather?

In case of unfavorable weather, we’ll change the event location to a more sheltered, safe bay. If this is not enough, we’ll cancel the event & refund in full within 24hrs.

What is the minimum age to participate?

We can take kids ages 8 years and up (no exceptions) when accompanied by two adults. The kid will sit in the middle-seat in between the two adults as a non-paddling guest. The adults are to supervise the kid at all times.

What is the price for a kid?

When a kid uses the main seat of a kayak the price is the same as per an adult, hence €44.

Alternatively a kid accompanied by 2 adults will sit in the middle seat as a non-paddling guest & pay a reduced fee of €15. Hence the total price for 2 adults & 1 kid is €103.

Do I get wet during the ride?

Yes, you will get wet as you paddle.

Can you help with a teambuilding event?

Yes! We can host up to 27 guests at a time.  Contact us with your estimated group size, proposed event date & time and we'll quote your private event accordingly.

We can cater for larger groups by collaborating with other operators.

What is the maximum rider weight?

On a double seater kayak the maximum combined weight is 250kgs.

On a single seater kayak the maximum rider weight is 100kgs.

How to get to Mistra Bay

TAXI - the quickest way is by using apps like UBER, BOLT, or eCABS.

BUS/TAXI - Take a bus to Xemxija, then a short cab ride to Mistra

PUBLIC BUS - you can stop at either of the following 2 Bus Stops.

  • Bus Stop Option 1  - before going up the Mellieha hill.  This is a 1.1kms walk through a road. https://maps.app.goo.gl/cMYSJjeALDmmv33W9

  • Bus Stop Option 2- before XEMXIJA FIRE STATION.  This is a 900-meter trek over rough ground & down a steep set of rock-cut stairs.

Can I bring a dog?

YES, we love dogs!  On a tandem kayak, the dog will sit in between the two humans (the humans must be in same booking ) . On a single seater kayak, a small sized dog will sit in front of the paddler.

We recommend you supply a float vest for the dog. Please note that by brining your dog you are taking responsibility for the dog's behaviour. Only dogs that are well socialized with humans & as well as other dogs are allowed.

Note that dogs will typically be wary of the kayak - until they get used to it. We recommend you come 15 minutes early so you allow the dog to hop on the kayak on land, for familiarization.
